After a great year of fundraising in 2017 – we’re ready to get going again and support another good cause for 2018. We asked everyone who works at Hemlow to nominate a charity they’d like to support. The nominations were put in a Hemlow hard hat and Gary one of our Contract Managers, drew the selected charity – CLIC Sargent.

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading charity for young cancer patients and their families, providing them specialist support, help and guidance. CLIC Sargent’s vision is that everyone under 25 with cancer and their families will get the support and help they need during their cancer treatment and beyond, including bereaved families living with emotional pain.

It was one of our Lead Engineers, Craig, based in Birmingham, who originally proposed CLIC Sargent as our charity of choice. Craig’s family has been affected by cancer, so this charity is close to his heart and he was delighted that it had been selected.

Alex Drury, CLIC Sargent Fundraising Engagement Manager for Kent said “We are so excited to be working with the team at Hemlow Ltd to raise funds and awareness throughout 2018. Every day 11 children and young people in the UK receive a devastating cancer diagnosis. It is only through the generous support of companies such as Hemlow Ltd we are able to ensure we can provide tailored support to every child, young person and their families to ensure they do not have to face cancer alone.

Our target is £1000 but we’re hoping to smash that again this year with activities including taking part in the JLL Property Triathlon.

Hemlow Contract Manager Gary is already looking forward to the challenge. He started running marathons at the age of 50 and has been running them both in the UK and Europe for over 5 years now. He has raised around £9000 for child cancer charities such as CLIC Sargent and Wellchild as well as Great Ormond Street hospital. This year he’s already signed up for four marathons – London, Brighton, Beachy Head and Liverpool.
